Note: These images are from a survey of Beijing's commercial and residential streets taken in December 1997 and December 1998. Although only some 48 images have been selected for presentation on these pages, hundreds of images were collected from major thoroughfares in five districts: Dongcheng, Xicheng, Xuanwu, Chongwen and Haidian.
